Informal Living Room

Project Intro

This young design-centric family moved into a new home where they were struggling to place many of their favorite furnishings.

They are not afraid of color, patterns. or mixing styles in their furnishings; they know what they want and are willing to wait to find the “right” piece to keep their environment swoon worthy, even it requires extra tinkering to get it just right.

Design Challenges

The living room seemed to be the biggest puzzle. In the existing layout, it was clearly designed to be a formal space. The family had decided against remodeling, but & they did not like the feel of an overly formal living room. They had brought many loved furniture pieces into their new home, but a fresh set of eyes and a creative mindset were needed to create a space that fit their family dynamic withing the existing home structure. It was up to LH&H to strategically place their furnishings in the new home in a way that was both fresh and livable: set to tell their story.

FINAL RESULT

In the end this family ended up with a youthful and modern take on their formal living room. Modern art, strong colors, and a healthy mix of both old and new pieces created an interesting family friendly living space with lots of personality for the family to enjoy together.

TESTIMONIAL

Erin is super collaborative. She challenges me to try new designs ideas. Inevitably, the project ends up better than I could have dreamed.
