Project Intro

Why is it that the last room in the house to get a makeover is the Master bedroom? It is, after all, one of the only rooms within a busy family home that is a designated “adult” space. This busy couple decided it was time to make the master bedroom the sanctuary they deserved at the end of a long day.

Design Challenges

The two of them had differing design ideas. He envisioned The Ritz: sophisticated, luxury, and serene. She, favored Coastal blues: bright and airy, yet cozy. Both had a different vision for the overall mood of the space.

FINAL REsult

Given a blank slate, we focused on creating a design scheme that created a serene and sophisticated mood in the bedroom yet complimented the rest of their beautiful home. Architectural details were added in the form of trim work and custom built-ins to create interest and function. Natural woven grasscloth wallpaper tastefully compliments and adds a warmth to these newly added features.

We chose a sophisticated color palette of medium-to- dark blues and contrasting blush tones to evoke a sense of tranquility. Furnishings, while traditional in design, were updated with an unexpected mix of colors, pattern, and fabrics. Elegant light sources were selected to compliment the mood. The final result is a serene sophisticated bedroom with warmth and interest, a cozy retreat at the end of a long busy day.
